Wicked Child Jester Costume
In ancient times courts employed fools and by the Middle Ages the jester was a familiar figure. In Renaissance times, aristocratic households in Britain employed licensed fools or jesters, who sometimes dressed as other servants were dressed, but generally wore a motley colored coat, hood with ass’s ears or a red-flannel coxcomb and bells.
Regarded as pets or mascots, they served not simply to amuse but to criticize their master or mistress and their guests. Queen Elizabeth is said to have rebuked one of her fools for being insufficiently severe with her. Excessive behavior, however, could lead to a fool being whipped. So kids beware of too much foolishness on Halloween!

I’m still trying to come up with costumes for my six and two year old sons this year. Was thinking of possibly dressing them in costumes that went together i.e, one as a monkey, one as a banana, or Buzz Lightyear and Woody, etc. My six year old wanted to be a dog but it is nearly impossible to find a child size dog costume. Seems they only make them in infant and toddler sizes!
